Katrina

Hurricane Katrina reached an intensity greater than Camille (1969) yesterday afternoon. Would have been a "Category SIX" if the scale went that high. It's slamming into Louisiana & surrounding states as I type this. I vaguely remember Camille (I was the sort-of-tender age of 3 @ the time); it dumped 12" of rain in 4 hrs. as far north as Maryland, where we lived @ the time. It's the hurricane by which all others are compared --until now. THIS one's more intense than any in recorded history. I'm not the "preachin' kind", but I think we oughtta keep everyone who's affected by this b*tch-@$$ monster in our thoughts and prayers.

Grilling in the rain

Yeah, I had another wild hair yesterday. I cooked on my grill in the drivin' rain. I guess y'all can tell by now that I'm a grilling fanatic, har har har!! Besides-which, I had these chicken boobs marinading since yesterday morning, and they just *wouldn't be the same* on the ol' George Foreman. It was an interesting operation, almost needed 3 hands: standing there, holding the deck umbrella with 1 hand and operating the utensils w/ the other. Just lighting the charcoal was an art in itself. Yeah, gas grills are more convenient, but nothing beats charcoal flavor --'specially if you add mesquite chips or used Jim Beam barrel bungs as well. I also use a "charcoal chimney", available from Home Depot: it's a cylinder of sheet-metal w/ holes in the side and a screen in the bottom. Just stuff a couple of crumpled newspaper sheets in the bottom, pour in desired amt. of charcoal in the top, and light the paper. Eliminates that smelly ol' lighter fluid, and the charcoal's ready faster too. :-)

Crazy dreamzzzzz

Been having some really weird & disturbing crazy dreams lately.. dreams that just don't make any sense. And it's been driving me totally nutz-O. Some are beyond disturbing.... wish I could make sense of 'em. At least they've been "colorful" though. I dream in color all the time (I've read that many folks dream in black & white). In some dreams, I dream of colors that don't exist in this world --can't describe 'em. I can remember them, but since they don't exist in this world, I can't begin to describe what they look like. --Does that make any sense? Prob'ly not. Some days I honestly feel like I'm goin' totally insane.......

...disjointed thoughts...

Been a crazy day .... I should've known it when I smelled a stinkin' SKUNK first thing this morning... He must've "detonated" just outside my window out back.. could smell him from the INside through the kitchen walls... Gas now @ an all-time high: $2.friggin'90 /gal now. Guess it's high-time I figured out how to get my truck to run on ginger ale. Entirely too much weird sh*t goin' on in the world lately. And this afternoon, the real kicker: ghost from the past e-mailed me... bringing back all kinds of crazy disjointed thoughts & feelings that I've tried so desparately to make sense of &/or get over for several months now..... feeling totally lost... WHY in the damn hell does life have to be so friggin' WEIRD some days????? ..."Calgon, Take me awayyyy!!!"

"Hot August Night"

Uhhhh... it's hot here... --and dry.. Friggin' dry line is parked right here over the Ohio River and hasn't budged in more'n a week :/ I'ts rained all around.. 'specially to the north & south of here. Today it rained to the west.. then rained to the east! Almost like we've got a force-field over us preventing any much-needed rain. Ohhhhhhhh how dry it is...........

Ok ok ok: my NEXT posting will be more interesting.. --PROMISE!!!
