Evaluating the "New" Sony Clié NX80V
Well, it finally arrived the other day. I found a nice "new" (sort of) Sony Clié NX80V palmtop computer on the usual online junkyard and bid on & won it. It's a remarkable little machine: 55000+ colour high-res. display, built-in 1.3Mpix digital camera, a slew of Palm 5.0 apps., and slots for both Memory Stick & Compact Flash cards. It's also a great *.mp3 player (you'll need a good-sized Memory Stick (128Megs @ least) to store your songs on) complete w/ ear-phones & a remote control. What I like best about it is it's magnesium body. The unit I got was "factory re-furbished".. had a few tiny scratches here & there on the outer hull, but the screen is in perfect condition and the battery & other entrails are all new & restored. This particular Clié is the type that folds & opens like a lap-top: it has a "screen 1/2" & a "keyboard 1/2". The little keys are nice for when it won't recognize yer handwriting but wayyyyy too small fer any heavy-duty typing. The screen can swivel & fold back down (AND digitally rotate) in order to facilitate use in a more compact config. (about the size of the earlier Palm models). One thing I've noticed is that the hinge between the 2 halves is somewhat loose & wiggly, but perhaps this is simply due to it's engineering. It is after all more like a universal joint than a straight hinge. But asside from that 1 issue, it's a nice slick machine.

Yeah, I do right now... I was married for 3 years (best 3 years of my life) not long after I finished graduate school @ UGA. Tragically, my Wife passed away from lung cancer in late 2003. Since then, my writings (such as this 'Blog), my artwork & photography, hangin' out w/ friends & neighbors, and working on computers is what's helped me retain what little sanity I have left, haha. On a lighter note, my friends & neighbors & I have some good times occasionally: we cook out on the grill (YUM!), drink good wine, and go out to eat & watch ball games sometimes :-)
Dig the following link:

The Gallery is about mid-way down the page, just after my home-made wine recipe. This is a page I constructed back in the late '90s, and I've been working on it off&on over the next few years. Lately, I haven't done much as far as keeping it updated (some links on the page (such as contact info.) may be "dead" links).
Anyway, in the Gallery, there are several other links (Air-brush painting, black & white photography, electron microscopy, etc.). Click on each link to bring up a page of "thumbnail-sized" images; then click on each image to enlarge it. ENJOY! ;-) Oh yes: and please let me know what you think...
Incidentally, I hope to be adding more images sometime this year, now that I've got a really nice digital camera :-) Years earlier, I was doing my own developing & printing; then I'd scan the images & digitize them w/ a film scanner --quite time-consuming, which is why I haven't worked on my Gallery in the past couple of years..
Try clicking HERE. Then click on each link to go into the various "rooms" of The Gallery. In each "room", there are a bunch of "thumb-nail" images; click each one to enlarge it. If I posted 'em on my Blog, they'd take up tons of space & forever to up-load. As far as my Blog username, well.. my hair's turning silver-gray (used to be all jet-black, but started turning gray when I was about 19-20), and I like wolves :-)
